What Causes Recurring Cyst In Spleen?

our 15 yr old son had a volleyball sized "true" cyst removed last Nov. We did a follow up ultrasound and it has come back, and several parts of this grape cluster like cyst are now the size of golfballs. Is this common or rare, that it would come back? It is non cancerous and is confined to his spleen. He weighs 115 lbs and has no other health issues.
