What Causes Recurring Soreness In Tongue Towards The Back Of Throat?

I have a sore tongue on the sides towards the back of my throat. This comes and goes. it has been going on for several months. I sometimes have red tonsils with the soreness. I developed a white pointed object on my tongue and it grew quickly. My tongue is somewhat white coated. I had an appointment with a surgeon Tuesday and he thought I might have fungus and prescribed Fluconazole 100 mg. for 5 days. Today (Friday) a Surgeon cut off the white object and I am waiting for the results of the biopsy. What do you think this could be?

Thanks for the query..

As per your complain it seems that you have a Fungal infection over the tongue which is leading to white coating over the tongue which needs antifungal treatment and you are already taking it..
The pointed white growth over the tongue can be due to Human Papilloma Virus infection causing oral warts and it can be confirmed only after the biopsy report..
For throat soreness you can do warm saline gargles and suck on throat lozenges for relief..
For fungal infection Nystatin moutwashes can also be used for gargle as it will provide relief from infection..
Take more of Probiotics like Yoghurt to clear the fungus..
