What Causes Red Blisters On The Arms And Legs?

I am a 81 yr.old woman who, about a year or so I started getting red/purple like bruise like blotches on my arms and legs. I had blamed it on the prednisone I was taking for osteoarthritis, but I havent taken that in months. Now, from my ankles almost to my knees it has turned maroonish. Can a blood condition cause all of this?

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having bruising and changes in color to your feet. These changes are a result of taking prednisone. the connective tissue in your arms and legs are now very friable and they break easily causing the bruising and blistering. There is nothing you can do to cure the condition. I recommend using long sleeves to protect your arms.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions please contact us again
