What Causes Red Brown Specks After Urination?

Hi,
I noticed a few red brown specks after I urinated this morning for the first time. There was no pain, I haven't been having pain in the lower back, at least not from my kidneys. I am scheduled to have a procedure done on March 16th concerning tacking up the urethra leading to the bladder to prevent stress incontinence. Does the specks mean I have an UTI trying to get started?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In case of UTI /cystitis there is a burning sensation while urinating so you don't have UTI/cystitis. In your case there is no pain and you had one episode of blood in urine.

This may happen in case of:

1) Carcinoma of bladder
2) Throat infection (as streptococcal infection involves kidneys too)

If this recur I suggest you to go to a urologist/urosurgeon

Hope this will help you

Regards,
Dr. Kirti Bhise,
