What Causes Red Bump In Thigh Of A 9 Year Old?

My son, who is 9, just showed me a red bump about the size of a half dollar on the front of his thigh. It is hard and it's red. The redness extends over the size of the half dollar. He can't remember hitting it. He's told me that it started yesterday and that it's gotten bigger as the day has progressed. Any ideas what it could be?

For better diagnosis i would like to see the photo.
Herpes Simplex ,irritants, syphilis, warts and acne can all be causes of red bumps in on your inner thighs.

Consult your doctor for medicines.
