What Causes Red Colored Urine After Drinking Energy Drink?

my boyfriend has noticed that after he drinks an energy drink or pop his urine is a very dark red color, he says it looks exactly like plain old blood. what could be the reason for this? please help he refuses to go to the doctor because hes had it before and it went away, but i am seriously concerned.

It could be related to what he drinks. It could also be blood. If in doubt, get a urinalysis at his doctor's office.
