What Causes Red Discharge From Breast After Taking Fucidin?

HI. Had a c-section on 6th march. All ok. Noticed 2 days ago a small area along section looking red and a clear discharge. My ob seen me yesterday and took sample and felt like she tried to get in there with the swab. She said atm that it should be ok.After she poked in there i came home seemed uncomfortable and some pain. At home found red discharge kinda like blood mixed with the previous clear discharge. Today had seen family doctor about baby weigh. She also looked at that red area but told me i should use a local antibiotic cream. She prescribed FUCIDIN. Got home just now and my discharge is still red and now seems like i see some yellow-green in there. checked prospect before use and warns of possible serious side effects that he or she(the doctor) has judged that the bennefit to you may be greater than the risk !!!(from product prospect, scared allready), also This medication may pass into breast milk. I am breastfeeding so im not sure what should i do and if there is an alternative to this(rubbing alcohool and cleaning area, peroxydewhatever, wash often and after using hairdryer on cool to keep area dry, or other methods less dangerous to me or baby).I just feel like this is starting to get this way because of the poking around and pushing in the section and i am feeling sorry i didn t just leave it alone as it seems they made things worse and now i am actually getting an infection. any advice will be enormously appreciated as i dont want to hurt myself or baby(breastfeeding) with that cream but also an infection scares me . Appologies also for talking too much. :) Thank you all.

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
What you describe seems like a local skin infection along c-section scar and may not be related to your operation in march.Fucidin is a local antibiotic cream that is not contraindicated in breasfeeding as the amount that may pass into blood may not be enough to pose any problem to you or the baby.I will suggest you try the following:
-Continue with fucudin cream
-Clean area regularly with an anti-septic solution like betadine
-Good hygiene
If discharge persist, you see your Doctor again for reevaluation and to consider systemic antibiotics.
Hope this will help
Wish you a speedy recovery
