Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I've noticed for the past couple of weeks there has been some red coloring in some of my stools and it is there when I wipe, as well occasionally it feels like something sharp is scraping whilst I'm passing a stool. I also drink cranberry juice every day I don't know if this could be related?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Pain and blood in stools may be due to fissure or fistulas or hemorrhods in stools.
Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Take high fibre diet and do regular exercise, drink plenty of water.
Use syrp Lactulose. Consult your physician for prescription. If symptoms do not improve, please consult your surgeon who will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
