What Causes Red Lumps On Back Of Tongue With Sore And Swollen Throat?
Hi, I am 21 years old. A week ago i noticed that my throat was a little sore and I felt a bit dehydrated but didnt think anything of it and drank plenty of water. Now in the last 3 days my tounge has been very sore and feels like i have burnt it even tho i havent had any hot food or drinks and I also have two big red lumps on the back of my tounge and also some small red spots all over it. My throat is also still sore and kind of swollen. What could this be? Thanks
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems like you are suffering from throat infection leading to sore throat along with inflammation of the tongue leading to Glossitis along with inflammation of the taste buds that are appearing as raised lumps along with burnt feeling. You should take a short course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin or Cephalexin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles. Take a multivitamin tablet daily and avoid hot and spicy foods.. You can gargle with a numbing mouthwash to prevent tongue discomfort especially during meals.. Drink plenty of water and maintain a proper oral hygiene..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora.
