What Causes Red Marks On Back Of Throat?

Hi, I m a 16 year old male. Last night, my throat was hurting for the past hour and it would hurt the worst when I swallowed anything. I took some ibuprofen and it completely stopped and it was back to feeling normal. Now today, inside my mouth, I have red marks on the back of my throat and my tongue is tinted yellow in the back. Can I get answers to what this might be? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of sudden onset of pain in throat that got alright with Ibuprofen, found out red spots on back of throat and yellow tinge at the back of tongue.
The causes can be as follows:
You have got granular pharyngitis hence the red spot at the back of throat.
The bad oral and pharyngeal conditions can cause discoloration of the back of tongue or by the foods and liquids you must have consumed a day before.
This can best be diagnosed by your ENT Surgeon and investigated if required.
A proper course of prescription based antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicines can treat you well.
If there is oral thrush your Doctor would advise you local application.
Take rest and take plenty of oral fluids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
