What Causes Redness Around The Anus?

Hello,

My Son is 4 yrs old and he has developed a condition. There is a red area arround the anus. I had a clotrimazole and beclomethasone cream. When I used it, it goes away but if I stop it for 2/3 days, it comes back. Lately, he is also having a loose motion. Without medicine he has itch and pain in the area. What shall I do? Is it food allergy as his toilet frequency is 5/6 times a days.

HI
Well come to HCM
Thank for asking, perianal region redness in pediatric age group is due to infection, stool could be more acidic.
Instead of treating the red area finding the underlying cause and correcting is important, if this is the infection then it can be managed with antibiotic (Condition has to be confirmed) second it may be due to more acidic nature of stool and for that try alkaline diet, encourage the child for drinking water, probiotic can be tried.
For a red skin try Diphenhydramine lotion or Calamine lotion but not he steroid.
hope this information helps.
