What Causes Redness In The Lower Legs?

My lower legs are red. My doctor thought it was cellulitis at first. I went to the ER and had a culture and blood taken. Results said it was NOT cellulitis but didn t say what it was. My doctor has sent me to umpteen other professionals and they all said to wear support stockings which I do. He also has me using SSD cream on the legs twice a day and mupirocin four times a day. Since I ve been using mupirocin, ( two days now) my feet have now turned red also (the tops of them) and they are starting to weep. Any idea as to what I have?

Hi,

You have to get it done color doppler of both lower limbs. It is possible that you developed deep vein thrombosis. Other possibilities like filariasis or varicose veins or vascular insufficiency or dependent edema etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. use crepe bandage, elevate limbs. Also check for cardiac or renal function in which may aggravate the problem. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
