Pediatrician 's  Response
Premature babies have weakness all over, and also in the valve that regulates the passage of food from the food-pipe into the stomach. This weakness often causes the reflux that you have spoken about. I think that as he grows, the reflux is likely to subside, and he may totally outgrow it by a year's age.

Please continue doing what you are already doing - the propping up and the feeding of thickened feeds (baby cereals are great!). Ranitidine is okay, and you may try a vomiting medication like domperidone, which your pediatrician can guide you the dosing and administration of.
