What Causes Rib Pain/discomfort After Falling Down?
I slipped on an ice covered sidewalk, landed on my back, on the left side. Now I have rib pain/discomphort in the front of my chest like I cracked a rib under my pectoral muscle. Its weird.. like in a very specific spot under my pec is very tender.... and all the normal things like hurts to cough, sneeze,,, only hurts when I laugh kinda thing ya know. the only thing I can think of is a rib or ribs tore away fron the cartilage in the front but i m just not sure... I havent been for an x-ray... mainly cause it s one of those injurys that you really cant treat with anything but rest and time.... but I m still concerned... I m a 44 yr old male... I don t bounce like I used to LOL
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The rib pain after falling that you have can be due to a cracked rib or a muscle spasm. You can get an X-ray done to rule out any bone injury. YOu can get oral muscle relaxants prescribed for relief. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal .
