What Causes Ribcage Pain While Coughing And Strained Bowel Movement?

Hi, I m experiencing rib cage pain while coughing and stiff legs (as if I ve run a marathon)- I haven t exercised recently and the symptoms only started showing today in lieu of (this is embarrassing...) a particularly strained bowel movement. Not sure what could have caused this? Might it be a muscle pulled in my back?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
The strained bowel movement needs utmost pressure that hold the chest and the ribs with muscles very very tight so that you can increase the intra-abdominal pressure to pass the bowel movement.
At the same time the whole body can go into spasm, particularly the calf muscles hence you have stiff legs.
I would advise you to take a PPI and an anti-inflammatory medicines and a laxative to have soft motion.
Apply rubrafacient liniment to the ailing chest parts.
Consult a Doctor to rule out fracture of the rib.
