Hello,

What I think this should be related to your pulmonary system and also the muscles intercostal muscles would have landed in spasm.

Firstly to ask you, how long is this cough persisting? if it is longer than an x-ray chest will be of choice to rule out any pulmonary pathology.

Use hot water fermentation and do deep breathing exercises which should help reduce pain and improve the pulmonary functions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
