What Causes Rise In BP Level,headache And Chest Tightness Despite Taking Amlodipine?
Name is Trish - 66 yr old femal. My cardiologist has changed my BP medication recently (2 weeks now) from Diltizen 180mg x 2 a day to Amlodipine Besylate 5 mg. Within 3 days BP elevated. Contacted Dr. office and they instructed me to take 10 mg (2 5 mgs) at bedtime (3 days now). This morning BP is still elevated - (176-108) with bad headache and tightness in chest. Other medications I m on are Toprol-50mg x 2, Lisinopril-5mg, HCTZ-25mg, and Isosorb Mono ER 30 mg - besides other meds for diabetis and colesteral. My Dr. says monitor BP and give it a week to begin working. What do I do in meantime to reduce my BP. Feeling bad. Curious of another opinion. History of arterialclorosis and heart attack at 34. Thanks for reply.

Ht with dm and ihd high cholestrol is very risky situstion high bp can cause another atack for bp dose has to be increased i prefer for ramipril anyway icrease lisinopril to bd daily stop amoidipine as it is fluid retaining properties and is not advisabl for diabetics you have to raise, the dose of lisinopril take care
