Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I started having a rumbling stomach last Friday. I have had a nisson liposomy (not sure of the spelling) 10 years ago for cronic heartburn. I really can't feel what is going on in my stomach. I thought it was something I ate because I had a case of diarrhea Friday night. I decided to eat a cheese pizza to see if that helped. I didn't go to the bathroom for 2 days. I didn't take any drugs. Yesterday the rumbling was so bad I decided to take tums. It helped for about an hour. Today I have gone to Mylanta it helps for a little longer. I just took a Pepcide and now it is rumbling worse. I ate a bowl of potato soup yesterday and nothing today.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of Nissan's Fundoplication operation 10 years ago. Now have rumbling in the stomach with constipation and taken cheese pizza, tums, mylanta, Pepsid but nothing helped completely. Your history is suggestive of intestinal obstruction and need the following: Get an X-ray f the abdomen in a standing position. Ultrasonography and further tests of the blood, urine and stool if available on enema or so. This will give the probable diagnosis whether obstruction, infection or related to the gastric conditions and so on and help to get a plan for management. A trial can be given with intravenous fluids and electrolytes, antibiotics may help withing a few days.
