What Causes Runny Wax Coming From Ears?

my 5 year olds ear has very runny wax coming out of it - this is after a long and heavy cold. Do we just keep cleaning it awat until it stops? Its been 3 days so far. No discomfort throught the day. Had temperatures last week, but ok now. Some pain in ear at night time still, but again this was worse last week.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Hcm,
I understand your concern about your child and should appreciate you for doing the right thing for it.cleaning regularly and keeping ear dry is the perfect therapy you can give at home. Having said that, child needs to be shown to an ent specialist to examine inside thoroughly for a hole in the membrane inside because such features are suggestive of chronic suppurative otitis media which is a chronic infection of ear. If I were your pediatrician I would refer you straight away to ent specialist. Take care.
