What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain And Bloating While On Midodrine?

I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH SYNCOPE AFTER FAINTING AND GOING TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM 2 DAYS AGO AND UNDERGOING MANY TESTS. MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED MIDODRINE 2.5 MG TABLETS TO TAKE 3 TIMES A DAY AT MEALTIMES. I HAVE NOW STOPPED THIS MED. BECAUSE I AM EXPERIENCING ATTACKS OF EXTREME PAIN, CRAMPS, AND BLOATING IN MY ABDOMEN AROUND MY BELLY BUTTON. WHAT IS CAUSING THIS TO OCCUR AND SHOULD I CALL MY DOCTOR AT HOME? I ALSO HAVE NOT HAD A BM IN 2 DAYS WHICH IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR ME. WOULD IT BE OK FOR ME TO TAKE A LAXATIVE TO SEE IF THIS WOULD MAKE THE PAIN AND CRAMPS GO AWAY?

Hi,

It may be due to gastritis associated with the drug.

You can take antacids like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
