What Causes Severe Bouts Of Cough With Mild Fever In A 2 Year Old?

My 2 1/2 yr old daughter is having severe bouts of coughs along with mild fever, clear nasal discharge.. She says her chest head and legs hurt. Have been treating with fever and pain medication started sun morning. She coughs for so long it s like she can t catch her breath especially in the night time.. Whooping cough causes severe spasmodic type of cough more during nights.
Erythromycin is the drug of choice.
Asthalin nebulisation will prevent severity of cough.
Better consult pediatrician and follow his advice.
