What Causes Severe Burning In The Heart?

Hi! In Cozamel ... Day 5 of diving. After 1st dive today developed extreme heartburn that is consistent throughout the day. Tums, gaviscon and Prilosec no relief. No heart history, 53 years old, healthy, non smoker, never had GERD or GI issues. No vomit either... Just miserable???? Female, 125 lbs

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about a 53 year old female of 125 lbs having severe heartburn after 1st dive, consistent throughout the day, no relief with tums, gaviscon and prilosec, no previous history, no vomiting, just miserable.
In any case of heartburn, the above mentioned medicines will help at least a bit and should helps nicely.
Since there is no relief we have to go for the investigations:
First of all, go for EKG and cardiac checkup.
Upper GI Endoscopy
X-ray of the chest.
Clinical evaluation, examination and further investigations as may be needed.
Continue the medications as per the requirements and as you are taking as before - Prilosec, Gaviscon and tums.
Add on Domperidone as it helps in some cases.
No stress/anxiety.
