What Causes Severe Cough After Taking Crestor Tablet?

Hi. Despite a (long) history of asthma and allergies and post-nasal drip, and many years of bronchitis and asthmatic bronchitis, I have been coughing now since September, with active coughing, weeks of respite, then coughing for weeks again. Could Crestor be causing this? Looking back, I think that is when I switched to Crestor from another cholesterol medication.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONCERN.

Thanks for your query. Yes crestor is known to cause cough as a side effect. In your case cough is severe due to additional effect of asthma, allergy and post nasal drip.

I would suggest you to stop taking crestor tablet and consult your doctor, so that he/she can prescribe you some alternative drug like lipitor (astrovastatin) or readjust dose according to your condition.

For now what you can do is drink warm glass of water by mixing 1 spoon of honey in it,take steam, take cough lozenges and take antihistamine drug like benadryl.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get well Soon.
Best Wishes,
