What Causes Severe Cough Along With Light Headedness And Leg Cramps?

My husband has had a bad cough for 4 days. No fever. Very, very tired. No appetite. Little interest in taking fluids. Has some leg cramps. He has taken a small amount of gatorade. He is light headed. Dr has prescribed promet/cod 6.25-10 syrup every 4-6 hrs for cough; cefuroxime 500 mg 2x daily for 10 days...he has taken 3 of these tabs. Also taking max strength Mucinex every 12 hrs. He gets very pale and clammy skin with little exertion.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, he should continue same treatment with antibiotics but baseline blood work up with complete blood count and CRP should be done. Also chest X-ray needs to be done as symptoms suggest severe respiratory tract infection and pneumonia should be ruled out.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
