What Causes Severe Cough And Frequent Urination At The Age Of 72?

Hi! My father is 72 years old. He has weak lungs because he had smoked a lot when he was still strong, that he had his oxygen by his side when he needs it. Lately he was confined to the hospital due to cough and flu. His cough stopped but reoccured agin. He coughs for two weeks now and has a discharge of white substance when he coughs, its not phlegm, i supposed. He takes several herbal medicines like Millenium and Noco of E.Excel, and Green Barley. The other problem is that he feels that he needs to poo frequently. His poo is not wet as if he has LBM. He is going weaker and weaker because of this feeling. Please help.Thank you

Hello
As you describe in your query that your father is 72 years and getting weakness ,day by day.
In my opinion his cough may be due to some bronchoconstriction ( as you mentioned that his cough don't produces any phlegm i.e dry cough ) , this type of cough and weakness is a characteristic feature of either SMOKERS cough or due to asthmatic allergic bronchitis .
So your father require some bronchodilators like terbutaline syrup or salbutamol syrup.
However ,there are so many other reasons of such cough but I recommend you please consult another physician ( 2nd one ) and get his opinion.
Frequent desire of defecation is very common in patient having weakness , asthmatic cough ,so consult physician and get his opinion.
Good luck.
