What Causes Severe Hair Loss After Taking Suboxone Tablet?

I have a question about possible medication induced hair loss. I am a suboxone patient for five years. It s saved my life and allowed me to be the successful person I was supposed to be. I am an attorney now. However, a few years back, I attempted to jump off and for thirty days, I had withdrawals. I decided to get back on it and ween myself properly. That was probably two years ago. After getting back on the medication at the same dose I was on before (8 mg), my hair became very frizzy, breakable, and began falling out. It fell out or thinned should I say, evenly across my entire scalp, even on the sides. My eyebrow hair would even fall out. I have weened to .25 mg as of to date. The reason being, the hair loss. I hoped that if I cut my dosage, it would not interfere with any biological processes that was impeding hair growth. My hair is still very frizzy and my hair line is receding. The medication at a low dose doesn t have any negative side effects, and my hope was to reverse the hair loss, and continue on the medication. After all, it has saved my life, and I fear life without it. My question is - have you heard of suboxone induced hair loss, or opiate induced hair loss? Is it reversible? Some on the web have claimed the same thing, that it grew back. What might cause the hair to get so frizzy, hard to pull back like a pony tail. Sometimes I think its dehydration because at night, it seem to be less the case. Any insights?

Hello,

Consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
