What Causes Severe Hip Pain With Normal X-ray?

Thank you, I have been having severe hip pain for about six months, the pain started about a year ago but has gotten more severe in the last 6mos. I have had a xray and have been told that there is no fracture and the ball in the joint is connected properly. My question is should I request a MRI or other test to see what is going on. I am 61 years old and try to be active but the hip pain has and is limiting me more and more. Any help would be appreciated to what I can expect.

Hi
Welcome to healhcaremagic
After going through your query I concluded that you there are having severe hip pains. Looking to your age it can be due to osteoarthritis, but your x rays are normal. There is no harm in getting MRI done to know the cause of severe pain. You can take analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief.Diacerine and glucosamine are useful as they prevent and to some extend reverse degenerative changes.Vitamin B and C with be helpful in recovery. You can discuss with your Doctor about it. Hope your query get answered. If you have any further questions then don't hesitate to writing to us . I will be happy to help you.
