General & Family Physician 's  Response
In fact, metoprolol is not known to commonly cause such generalized itchiness. But each person responds to each medication differently. Yes, Of course you could ask your physician to prescribe another cardioselective beta blocker (Atenolol, Bisoprolol, Esmolol, Nebivolol). However firstly, you could ask your physician to help you undergo a hypersensitivity Skin Test towards metoprolol to make sure that you are really sensitive to this drug, and that you should stop taking it.
