What Causes Severe Itchiness In The Urethra?

I have an itch inside my urethra no lower than a half an inch inside. I also have a very slight pain when urinating but it goes away during. The itch is not constant and I do not always have to scratch it. I have had unprotected sex recently all partners have been clean to my knowledge. No discharge, redness, bumps or extreme pain. Possible UTI? Or could it be in my head?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There can be possible urinary infection with clean partners through unprotected sex. My suggestions at present
- Drink plenty of liquids.
- Keep the genitals clean with antiseptic liquid.
- Get a prescription of urine microscopy with your doctor and necessary antibiotics accordingly.

Wish you fine health.

Take care.
