Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Itching In The Anal Opening And Hard Lump On Buttock?
I am 50 yo F with Hypothyroidism, never hospitalized. I take 112 mcg synthroid. My problem started a year ago and recently become hard to tolerate. I ve been to see my PCP 5X. I have intense/chronic anal itching, mostly right around the anal opening, sometimes both inside cheeks itch. I have a slimy discharge that I wipe constantly. On my right cheek, right at the edge I have a very hard painful lump about 1 X3 , hot to the touch. Now I have developed a throbbing pain right inside the anal openng. My doc has given me nizoral, hydrocortisone, diflucan but has never physically looked at my rear. The lump started two days ago and I can barely stand the pain. Please tell me what can I do to ease this pain and the itch which is driving me to the brink of sanity. Thank you so very much for your advice.
Hi. Thanks for your query and an elucidate history. What you need is an examination, colonoscopy to rule out the problem which has caused all this. You may be having a mass in the rectum or anywhere in the large bowel. On treatment of the causative problem alone can give you relief. Consult a Gastroenterologist ASAP.
