What Causes Severe Joints Pain While Having TMJ And Swollen Lymph Nodes?
Hi. I have been experiencing pains in what I believe is my massecular muscle. It's obviously larger than one side to the touch, and when I clenth my teeth its about two times as large as the normal side. I do suffer from TMJ and I have had multiple swollen lymph nodes in my head and neck area(not sure if this is related but just in case.) I have two main questions: 1.Could this be anything major? 2.Should I call a doctor?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that as you have TMJ and on clenching teeth if there is bulging on affected side there is a possibility that your lower jaw is displaced and does not articulate in the proper position leading to bulging..
Secondly there is also a possibility that there is muscle hypertrophy of the massater muscle leading to overbulging on clenching teeth..
Swollen lymph nodes can occur due to recent history of infection or chronic infection in head and neck region.. Second cause can be Lymphoma formation..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician or an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray of jaw. Electromyogram, ultrasound and Biopsy of lymph nodes can be done to confirm the diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
