Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Mouth Ulcers, Blisters On Leg And Neck, And Hair Loss?
Hi, my mother had joint pains & the Orthopedic Doc suggested to undergo blood test to check for Arthritis or Rheumanthritis - after which in spite of the reports being negative suggested Folitrax 7.5mg once a day for 15 days & Folinoz 3 times a week for 45 days. As a result of this, just after taking 6 of the Folinoz tablet, she developed severe mouth ulcers, red bursting blisters on her leg, back & neck & falling hair too. From what ever litle we could get from a second opinion of another Doc he said these were anti cancerous drugs. Could you please tell me exactly what has caused these side effects?
Anti-cancer drugs cause these side effects as these drugs are not used for cancer but also for other diseases. Do not stop any of the drugs immediately, consult a rheumatologist. LFT, RFT and CBC tests are to be done. Physiotherapy and CST will be helpful.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
