What Causes Severe Muscle Cramps?

Trying to find out the cause of muscle cramps I ve been having, often in the middle of the night. Mostly legs ( calves and thighs) but also hands. One time just getting out of the recliner resulted in extreme thigh cramping. My potassium levels have been normal, and I am hydrated adequately.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

We have to rule out possibilities like peripheral vascular disease and neuropathic causes.

Consult a general surgeon and get a vascular Doppler done.

As of now, you can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Tramadol for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
