What Causes Severe Pain And Itching In The Anus?

My butthole itches really bad... Its usually worse in the morning when I wake up (and sometimes wakes me up earlier than I want), however continues at random parts of the day. I assumed maybe it had to do with poor higene so I started taking showers at least twice a day. I also bought some anti-itch cream and I've been applying that in the morning when it's really really bad. Its extremely painful and itchy. I've also tried to not scratch it so i don't irritate the skin. That's basically everything I've read about to do... I don't know what else I can do to make this go away. Can you help me?

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to hemorrhoids. Some advice that I can give to you is:

- Apply an over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone.
- Use pads containing witch hazel or a numbing agent.
- Soak regularly in a warm bath or sitz bath. Soak your anal area in plain warm water 10 to 15 minutes two to three times a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
