What Causes Severe Pain And Pins And Needles Sensation In Foot?

Hi,I had surgery one week ago for a broken fibula. I had 5 screws and one plate put in.I have had minimal pain (one advil extra strength every 8 hours) up until yesterday.Today the swelling in my toes has decreased, which is also allowing a little more movement within the cast. I am doing my toe exercises recommended, but following the toe movement I have a strong ache from above the ankle to the toes. Also in the gastroc muscles and a specific pain at the medial maleolus, lateral maleolus and talus. As well, very strong pins and needles and a fullness in the entire foot. I would have expected this with increased swelling but the swelling has decreased.Could you please share your thoughts on my symptoms?Thank you.

I strongly recommend to move your toes within the cast only till the pain limit. Do not move it much if there is increase in pain and other symptoms. Here due to fracture it takes some time for healing of bone till then do not strain it with extra movement or else the symptoms will continue and healing will be delayed. Swelling is reducing is a good sign that shows the inflammation is reduced and now healing will progress. I suggest to use cold pack and hot pack to have more relief. And just relax for next few days till the time your ortho does not ask to start with exercise. Heaviness is also a common symptom after fracture and operation since there is no continuity in bone.
