What Causes Severe Pain Between Shoulder Blades At Night?

Hello Dr Rynne, I had severe pain between my shoulders blades last night, it bothered me for around 3 hours until I went to sleep. Im a 42 yo women with no health issues, Im not over or under weight and have no family history of heart issues. I feel fine this morning apart from a little off - cant describe it. Not sure if I should get it checked out or just put it down to something I ate. Thank you Heidi

Hi there.

You could be having pinched nerves at the back or Fibromyalgia. Take pain killer and muscle relaxant for relief. Apply hot water bottle to the painful area. Show to your Orthopaedic surgeon for proper diagnosis and management.
