What Causes Severe Pain In Knees?

I have been suffering from knee pain in both knees, but mostely my left knee. It has got to the point where is is like someone is hammering an ice pick into my knee. The last time I went to my GP I had taken too many Vallium(non-prescribed), it was foolish and embarrassing of me, but it was a 1 off as I was majorly depressed and had took a bad reaction too the Prozac I had been Prescribed. Im 23(24 in April) and have had pain in my knees since I was 13/14. Its now got to the point where the pain is unbearable at times and I m scared of going back to my GP, 1. Incase my GP is awkward with me because of last time and 2, Im feared of her not beliving the pain I m in. Thanks for taking time to read,

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The pain in both the knees can be related to osteoarthritic changes in the knee joints. These are basically age related degenerative changes. Do consult an orthopedician for proper treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
