What Causes Severe Pain In The Calf?

I am experiencing pain in the calf of my right leg. It feels like my leg feels after a bad Charlie horse, but I have not had a Charlie horse in that leg for quite a while. It is no swollen, feverish or discolored but walking up or down steps, ramps or standing in one place too long hurt like the devil. The pain started day before yesterday.
