What Causes Severe Pain In The Feet After A Stroke?

A friend had a stroke several weeks ago and now she is having severe foot and big toe pain. Doctors have ruled out most usual problems such as gout and think she has some kind of coronary occlusion but they don t know where it is coming from. Could high dose enzymes open up whatever is blocked?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

A stroke can alter nerve function, so it is possible that her pain is purely neurological in origin.

There are meds that help with neurological pain are amitriptyline, nortriptyline, tegretol, gabapentin, lyrica.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
