What Causes Severe Pain In Upper Back And Shoulder Blades During Nights?
well, im not sure what it is but for about a month now and seems to maybe ease up or stop for a night or two then states again and last night has been worse, but i wake up throughout the nigh and i have really bad pain in my upper back, i guess you would say from shoulder blade to shoulder blade and have trouble moving or changing positions due to the pain. when i get up in the morning, it seems to go away after a bit but not this morning. my upper back is sore and i took ibuprophens and that had seemed to help but my upper back, shoulders and neck seem tense or tight and i feel like its a little hard to breath. its as if im in a room where there is smoke or something and i can feel it through my nose, chest and stomach. have no idea if i need to get to a doctor but i have never had this happen before.
Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Vidhi Gemawat's Response
Hi, You probably have severe spasm of the rhomboids and trapezius muscles. Visit a physio for pain relief, strengthening exercises of the back and posture correction. Avoid long duration use of laptops, mobiles, TV and reading for long hours.
