What Causes Severe Pain On One Side Of My Head?

My neurologist thinks I might have temporal arteritis and had a blood test for sed rate which has not come back yet. She gave me a presc. for Diclofenac for now until they read the blood test. I only have severe pain on one side of my head and also suffer from TMJ, so am in panic mode until I hear further on what treatment they will start me on. Can I continue with my normal life or should I just stay in bed until I hear further? I am a 62 year old white female. No other symptoms that I can think to tell you about. Thanks
