What Causes Severe Pain Under Ribs Post Hard Fall?

I took a hard fall on the left side of my back, on the ribs about 2.5 weeks ago, had xrays on ribs, only bruised, no blood in kidney, after week i have developed pretty severe pain under these ribs the size of a baseball, which radiates trough my back, it has not changed at all, has not gotten better or worse. Sleeping on my back or either side is still painful, getting up in mornings is very painful, your thoughts?

Hi
If xray doesn't show any fracture then it can be muscle sprain (intercostal muscles between two ribs).
You should avoid forward bending and weight lifting at least 4 weeks after injury so the muscle sprain can heal properly. if you have any common cold or cough problems then you should simultaneously treat it because coughing prevents this muscle healing.
As there is continuous movement of these muscles during breathing this type of pain have spikes- increase and decrease in pain but eventually it subsides.
Hope for good and fast recovery
