What Causes Severe Pain While Passing Bowel Movements?
My wife is 59yrs old never had a hysterectomy & she is having severe pain when she passes gas in the belly area as well when she tries to have a bowel movement, she has had these systems for over 2 weeks Her doctor has run blood tests but all came back normal. Please help if possible I can not stand to see my wife in pain. one more thing three years ago she had colon cancer they removed 24 inches of her colon.
Usually this type of severe pain with bowel movements and bloating will occur in persons with constipation or with fecal impaction or infection in the gut but should be confirmed by examination and tests.
She should go for some routine blood works and abdominal ultrasound for proper diagnosis.
Colon resection due to colon cancer before 3 years should not cause this kind of problem so I would not think above this possibility at present.
She should take plenty of water, foods like vegetables, fruits, and leafy vegetables on every day as it will make stool bulky and soft by retaining water in it leading to easy passage of stool.
If still problem persists then you seek advise from gastroenterologist.
