What Causes Severe Radiating Pain In The Left Leg?

I get extreme pain shooting up and down my left leg. It has been going on for over two months starting in my calf and spreading to my thigh, foot, groin, lower back and sometimes chest. All on the left side. The pain comes ands goes several times a day for brief to increasingly longer spans of time. I also get tingling and numbness in my left foot and toes.
