What Causes Severe Vaginal Itching?

Hi, I am a 17 year old female who is sexually active. Last time I had sex was yesterday and now my vagina itches a lot. I did shave right before having sex, though. There is pain at the bottom of my vagina (sorry, I don t know the correct terms). Regardless of the pain, the itching is what s keeping me tonight. What is the severe itching and pain? And how can I stop it?!!!?

Hi there,
I have understood your concern.

There can be 2 reasons for your itching.

First may be due to shaving procedure, and subsequent dryness or irritation of local skin.

Secondly, due to irritation of vagina due to sexual activity, dryness or transmitted fungal infection.

I will suggest you to seek prescription support from your treating doctor for antifungal ointment and oral tablets.
Also , seek proper sex counseling to know about proper precautions to be taken for safe and protected sex act. This will help to prevent STDs and unwanted pregnancy.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
