What Causes Severe Weight Loss And Fatigue While Having Cerebral Palsy?

I am concerned about my son-in-law. He is 40, has mild CP, and is a highly stressed college professor. He has for the last couple years been losing significant amounts of weight, without trying. And for several months he has been saying he has never been so tired and exhausted in his life. This does not seem right to me. We love him and want to keep him around and well!

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello!

I am glad to attend you on Healthcaremagic!

His clinical situation seems to be complex and could be related to different possible causes: a metabolic disorder, malnutrition, depression, a malignancy, etc..
For this reason, I recommend consulting with his GP for some tests:
- a chest X ray study
- a resting ECG
- a complete blood count
- an abdominal ultrasound
- kidney and liver function tests
- fasting glucose
- blood electrolytes
- vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels
- PSA and CEA levels.
You should discuss with his doctor on the above issues.
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
