What Causes Shakiness In Hands?

My husband is 62 years old, 5'10" tall, is about 20 pounds overweight and has no major health problems. He takes no medications. For a little more than a year, he has been experiencing skaky hands. The shaking increases with extended computer use. It is most noticeable after he has been performing tasks using heavy hands tools, mowing the yard, etc. It seems to decrease after rest, although I sometimes notice them shaking ever so slightly when he hasn't been doing anything at all. He has a high amount of stress in his job and, needless to say, this problem causes him a fair amount of anxiety as it is starting to be noticed by others.

Hello thanks for asking from Health Care Magic

He is 62 years old with average height and slightly increased weight with no health issues. He has developed symptoms like shakiness of hands. The symptoms increase on excess stress, computer use and decrease after rest. Such symptoms at this age can occur due to anxiety. But before anxiety some nutritional deficiencies can also cause such symptoms. Low vitamin B12 levels, low haemoglobin levels are common reason for such symptoms. Get his levels checked and start vitamin B12 supplements. Tremors can occur with deficiencies of vitamin B12.
If everything come normal then anxiety and work stress is most common cause. Consult a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment. Medicines like propranolol, low dose benzodiazepines like etizolam etc help to control such symptoms. The medicines are prescribed on SOS basis. Relaxation exercises, yoga also help to decrease such symptoms.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
