Hi There

After going through the details provided by you leads me towards thinking about a condition known as "ESSENTIAL TREMORS"

Essential tremor is a nerve disorder characterized by uncontrollable shaking, or tremors in different parts and on different sides of the body. Areas affected often include the hands, arms, head, larynx (voice box), tongue, and chin. The lower body is rarely affected. Although its not a life threatning condition but in severe cases can prevent an individual from doing dailiy activities.

I would like to advise to do a complete THYROID profile for your friend as thyroid dysfunction can also trigger these. And it could only be just due to the post residual effect from smoking withdrawl.

Meds like Beta Blockers, Transqulizers, Anticonvulsants can reduce the symptoms. But i would like you to go to a NEUROLOGIST for proper examination.

Good Luck
