What Causes Sharp Pains In Esophagus After Diagnosed With Gastroperisis?

I have been diagnosed with gastroperisis and have recently been also dealing with sharp pains in my esophagus, radiating to my back (between the shoulder blades). The pain feels like large food trying to pass through my esophagus... yet, I haven't ate anything in a few hours. The pain does not feel like heartburn, more like a cramp. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

hi,

gastroparesis is delayed emptying of the stomach.
so when the food takes a lot of time to go down the stomach it usually results in Reflux of acid into the oesophagus associated with reflux of food. this can cause pain.
one way to treat this, is to give a medication which would increase the activity of the stomach. a good medication for this condition would be metoclopramide 10 milligram tablet to be taken 3 times daily after food.
i would also advise you to take small meals and not to lay down flat after taking a meal at least for an hour.

wishing you good health and I hope you get better

best regards
