What Causes Sharp Pains In Stomach And Chest That Radiates To Shoulder?

Hi, I am 36 year old female. About a year ago, I started having sharp stomach pains in my upper right quadrant. The pain feels like a knife stabbing and twisting in an area right below my right rib cage. It at times will radiate around my side and up to my shoulder blade. I ve had blood tests, ultrasound, endoscopy and MRI and gastro believes it to be ibs. However, for the last 2 days, I have been having chest pain on my right side, shortness of breath and at times, the pain will radiate down my right side and up to my right shoulder blade. Could this be gallbladder issues??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about 36 year old female, sharp stomach pains in upper right quadrant like a knife stabbing and twisting in an area below right rib cage, at times radiating to shoulder blade, all tests point to IBS, now have chest pain on right side for last 2 days, shortness of breath, pain radiating to right shoulder, wants to know whether a gall bladder issue...
Yes, this looks to be related to gall bladder or bile duct issues.
I would advise you the following urgently to get a proper diagnosis as the symptomatic period can give positive findings:
Urgent contrast enhanced CT scan of the chest and abdomen to see for the cause.
Liver functions and other blood tests.
Tests of stool and urine.
Clinical evaluation and examination by a General Surgeon to have clinical diagnosis and have correlation with tests and to take a decision about the further treatment.
